About

Deirdre Fisher-Kemp is a dedicated advocate for social justice and housing equity with more than 20 years of experience in the affordable housing industry. She believes that housing is the cornerstone of strong communities, and her work reflects a deep commitment to supporting local community development corporations and faith-based organizations in building sustainable housing programs.

In her role as Senior Project Manager at the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation, a subsidiary of the New York State Housing Finance Agency, Deirdre reviews and recommends grant funding applications that support new construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, and home improvement of affordable housing. She provides oversight across key regions of New York State, including Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.

Deirdre is an ordained minister at New Light Baptist Church, where she serves as Director of the Prayer and Social Justice Ministries. She is also the New York Co-Founder of the Pembroke Taparelli Arts and Film Festival, which elevates artists who use their creative platforms to advance social justice.

Passionate about civic engagement, Deirdre serves as a County Committee Member for the 70th Assembly District in Central Harlem and is an active member of the Michelle Obama Democratic Community Club. She also sits on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity NYC & Westchester and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity NYC, the American Red Cross, City Relief, and God’s Love We Deliver.

Deirdre is a co-founding member of Camp Chateau in Southern France—a women-led retreat rooted in the values of rejuvenation, inclusivity and fun.

She attended Clark College (now Clark Atlanta University), where she majored in Political Science, and she is a proud member of Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc. Above all, Deirdre cherishes her family as the mother of two sons and the proud grandmother of a grandson. She is a lover of the arts in all its forms and enjoys reading and traveling.
