Tanya Matthews

About

Tanya was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and received her education attending Newark Public Schools, graduating as Valedictorian from Malcolm X Shabazz High School. She attended Essex County College majoring in Business Administration. Tanya has worked for The City of Newark, and began her formal financial services career with National State Bank in 1981, now Wells Fargo Bank. Tanya quickly advanced into the ranks of management via hard work and dedication to her craft, and was promoted to Vice President in 2007.

During her career, Tanya continuously worked with the Bank and local Community Organizations, leading and spearheading projects and organizing teams promoting service opportunities within the neighborhoods that the bank branches were located and operated in. Tanya has been a member of various Non-Profit Organizations, Board of Directors, Rotary International, Chambers of Commerce, Swing Phi Swing, S.F.I., and others and has received many awards for Community Service/Volunteerism and career excellence for her efforts.

Tanya retired from her position as Store Manager II, Vice President with Wells Fargo Bank, NA in 2012. Tanya continues volunteering in the Community, organizing Scholarship Programs, Health Informational Fairs, Mentoring Youths, and facilitating Financial Literacy Workshops. Tanya joined TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank in November, 2013 as Store Supervisor in Newark and was recently promoted to Sales and Service Manager, AVP in 2014 and retired in 2023.

Tanya is currently working at Urban League of Essex County providing Financial Money Management, Credit Advice and assistance as a Sr. Financial Coach.
