I moved to NJ 1969. Attended Willingboro Memorial Middle School. Graduated from John F. Kennedy High School June "1976". Attended Bloomfield College 1976 and graduated May "1981". I lived in North Jersey where I raised family of 3 children. I returned to South Jersey in "2008". I am a Retired Social Worker. I worked 33yrs as a Social Worker for the New Jersey Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP).
I became a member of Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship Inc. Spring "1978". I have been an active member of Swing Phi Swing since my crossing. I was a member of Tri-State Graduate Chapter (Sisters from NJ, New York and Connecticut worked together in the name of Swing. Sisters from NJ later Charted Garden State Graduate Chapter with over 20 active members. As the years went by I held the office of President for Garden State Graduate Chapter and was a Rites of Passage Coordinator.
NJ Zuri Obinrin Abike Aye' Graduate Chapter; Chartered April 14, 2011
January "2011" NJ Zuri Obinrin Abike Aye' held it's first official chapter meeting with 6 dynamic women (Sister Founder Marilyn Reid-Hill, Tamica Domino, Judy Ivory, Melissa Eley, Jennifer Murray and Shelly Wimberly to discuss starting a South Jersey Chapter of Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship. Inc. I was elected as President, Tamica Domino, Vice President, Judy Ivory Treasurer, Jennifer Murray Secretary, and Melissa Eley Parliamentarian of NJ Zuri. I thought about our name and the women who were about to take this journey together. With a little research I came up with our Chapter Name, Zuri Obinrin Abike Aye'and Judy added NJ so we would have our own identity. The meaning is "Beautiful Women Born to Treasure Life".
My oldest daughter Almira Wimberly was NJ Zuri's first Rites Of Passage candidate of who is a Duce and a Legacy. December "2016" Almira became a member of NJ Zuri Obinrin Abike Aye' Graduate Chapter of Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship. During my time in office as President of NJ Zuri NJ Zuri our chapter flourished to having 28 Beautiful Women as members of NJ Zuri Obinrin Abike Aye' Graduate Chapter. My time as President of NJ Zuri ended May "2022". I am so Proud and Overwhelmed of how Zuri has grown with so many beautiful women with many talents. My Heart and My Love for NJ Zuri will always Shine Bright.
